Maternity Ward - making progress

Significant progress continues to be made on the construction of a maternity ward for expectant mothers of New Sawereso-Seinuah. The second phase of electrical work has been completed, and focus in the project has transitioned towards interior carpentry work and the final phase of electrical work.

In late-2021, H.M. Duah III began raising funds for and constructing a 16-room maternity ward in New Sawereso-Seinuah. The maternity ward project is, in part, a response to deplorable road conditions which adversely affect the transportation of expectant mothers to nearby hospitals.

Allowing babies' first breaths to be free of dust gives them the best early start to life outside the womb. Once completed and open for use, newborns to the community will be able to enter the world with less exposure to the harsh elements and conditions of the outdoors, the maternity ward providing them with a solid floor and walls for protection, and with hospital beds for comfort.

By Fall of 2023, construction of the maternity ward was well underway. The foundation for the floor was in firmly place, sturdy walls had been erected, and the roofing had been completed.

With the continued financial support of donors with noble hearts, both at home and around the world, construction on the maternity ward is expected to be completed within 2024.
